Founded in 1987 by Smt. Sujatha Rajendran, Nritta Dhyana stands as one of Kuwait's oldest and most esteemed institutions for Bharatanatyam instruction.

Ms. Sujatha's mastery extends beyond Bharatanatyam to encompass Kathakali and Mohiniyattam, establishing her as a multifaceted artist and entrepreneur. Her vision for sharing the grace and spirituality of these classical dance forms led to the inception of Nritta Dhyana. Following 33 years at the helm, she transitioned to Coimbatore to focus on her new venture, Vaidyagrama, an Ayurvedic center. Her unwavering dedication to both her artistic and entrepreneurial endeavors serves as a beacon of inspiration.

With the leadership mantle passed to Smt. Arundhati Singha John in 2013, a Post Graduate Kalakshetra alumna, Nritta Dhyana continues its legacy under new stewardship. Under her guidance, the academy maintains its commitment to educating students in Indian classical dance, nurturing their artistic, intellectual, and personal growth. Over its 37-year journey, Nritta Dhyana has garnered acclaim for its contributions to the practice, understanding, and appreciation of Indian classical dance.

The academy's curriculum encompasses nattuvangam, dance theory, and abhinaya/expression classes, supplemented by special workshops by global guest artists providing students with a comprehensive education. Many graduates have gone on to become dance educators, performers, and even established their own schools.

Since its inception, Nritta Dhyana has been a breeding ground for aspiring artists, captivating audiences worldwide. The institution's adherence to the Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam, under Smt. Arundhati John's guidance, has facilitated the success and recognition of its students. From ages 3 to 60, learners continue to find inspiration and skill development at Nritta Dhyana.
